Fraktur, the real name of gothic script
What people call "gothic" is properly named fraktur. Born in 16th-century Germany, this broken script remained standard German printing until the mid-20th century. Unicode encoded it because mathematicians use it to denote certain algebraic objects.
Two variants, two looks
The regular version (π€π¬π±π₯) is thinner and closer to manuscripts. The bold version (ππππ) is denser and far more legible on a small screen β the better choice for a bio or username.
A detail other generators get wrong
Five capitals β C, H, I, R and Z β do not exist in the fraktur block: Unicode had already encoded them elsewhere (β, β, β, β, β¨). A generator that simply shifts character codes produces empty boxes on those letters. Ours handles all five exceptions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use gothic script in a game username?
Often yes, but some games filter non-Latin characters and will reject it. Test before you settle on it.
Why do C and H look different from the rest?
They come from a different Unicode block. Their drawing can vary slightly depending on the system font.
Are lowercase and uppercase both available?
Yes, both are generated. The capitalisation of your original text is preserved.
