Working days are the number people actually need

Total days is easy arithmetic. What contracts, notice periods, delivery estimates and project plans run on is working days — weekends excluded. That is the figure this calculator gives you alongside the raw total.

One honest limit: public holidays are not deducted, because they differ by country and by region within countries. If your deadline is tight, check the calendar for the specific jurisdiction.

Why the month count is marked approximate

Months do not have a fixed length, so any conversion from days to months is a convention. This tool divides by 30.44, the average length of a month across a full year, which is the standard approach for a rough figure.

It is deliberately labelled as approximate. If you need an exact count of calendar months — for a rent period or a subscription — count them on a calendar rather than dividing days.

Frequently asked questions

Are both dates counted?

The result is the span between them, so a start of the 1st and an end of the 31st gives 30 days. Add one if you need to count both endpoints inclusively.

Are public holidays excluded from working days?

No, only weekends. Holidays vary too much by country and region to be assumed.

What if I enter the dates the wrong way round?

The result stays positive — the tool works out which date comes first.
